Adeline- Portland, OR

Well, this is an unexpected surprise! I found The Promise Candle online while searching for information about breast cancer awareness, and just placed my first order! Shortly after, I noticed the blog, and read all the posts, what a lovely idea! I think in these uncertain times, a product like this is like comfort food. Calming, warm, and (I expect) delicious smelling. I'll let you know when I receive my order, but in the meantime, best wishes, and thanks for the inspirational blog!

Mina- Delmar, DE

Hi Marsha and the Promise Candle Crew!! I got a YUMMY Fresh Fig candle today, and I LOVE it. I, luckily, am neither ill or have an ill family member, but I do have a serious issue with "overscheduling"- both in my own life and my chidren's lives. We're getting a hold on it, and this candle is my saving grace! Thanks so much for the idea!!

I'm not one for sappy emails, but I wanted to drop and note and say "Thank You" to you all over at The Promise Candle. My father has been in the hospital for over a month now, and I've been at my wits end, trying to find rhyme or reason in the universe. A good friend of mine ordered herself one of these candles, and just passed it on to me, seeing my state of need. I've really enjoyed the time of reflection burning my candle daily has allowed, and just placed an order for my dad's own candle for his return home. the nurses at the hospital here think it's a really great product, and would love to see it in the gift shop, so you should follow up on that!

Thanks again- Angela, Las Vegas, NV

Shawna Krisp- Dublin, GA

Hey all! I just received my 4 pack of the tall candles (my husband calls them "grandes"- I think he spends too much time at Starbucks!) and they're just LOVELY! I admit, I ordered them as gifts for my girlfriends, and didn't intend to keep any, but now I am reevaluating! I am intoxicated by the Lime Basil. It's DIVINE. This summer we spent three weeks in Charleston, and something about the Lime Basil reminds me of those cool little shops we ALL love, the ones where you walk in and think "that's it, I'm redecorating my whole entire house and I want it to smell JUST like this store".

So ladies, thank you! Think of all the money I saved in "I have to redecorate I hate my house-itis"?

Shawna :)

Busy Busy Busy

Hello All! We've been busy busy busy here, and we've fallen behind posting all your great emails and stories in our blog! We've received many emails, and we're working right now to get them posted and up for you all to read! Thanks for all the "where's the blog?" messages- we had no idea how many of you are reading!

Now, for some exciting news! We sent a candle to Hoda Kotb (of NBC's Today Show), and guess what? Last week they unveiled her "newly redecorated office" and what did we see? The Promise Candle in her office! We've since talked to Hoda, and we're really excited that she loves her candle and thinks the candle is a wonderful product! Woo woo!

Adam and Corinne, Philadelphia, PA

Hello People at The Promise Candle!

We run a local yoga and meditation center, and recently were introduced to your product by a friend at a gift store here in Pennsylvania. We bought some candles for our facility through your website, and the patrons here went NUTS over them (we burn the "mysteria" scent, and use it as part of our classes, centering on the flame, etc. We have a class in particular, in our meditation series, about focus, and many of our customers (as I am sure you've noticed with a surge of orders from Pennsylvania) have bought their own Promise Candles to meditate and bring themselves into a personal calm in their homes. We just wanted to say THANK YOU! We're so pleased with our candles, at home and in our business, and the idea is simple, but perfect. We wish you well, and hope you'll come visit if any of you are ever in Pennsylvania! It's gorgeous here!

Christine- Kokomo, IN

I just found "The Promise Candle" on Myspace, and I just wanted to write to tell you how lovely an idea it is! Women these days need something to MAKE us appreciate life and the time we have, we just have so much on our plates that we can't back up and SEE things for what they are and should be! My mom recently survived a major heart attack, and she's recovering, thank God. This was a wake up call for me personally, and I know it was for her as well. Life's so short! I'm ordering us a couple of candles today, and I am sure my friends will as soon as they see ours. Thanks so much! Christine

We have been friends for most of our lives. You are such an inspiration to me. I have always valued the love and kindness you give. It comes natural for you. We should all be as brave and strong as you are. I love you dearly.

Mona- Charlotte, NC

I just received my candle order and I am SO excited! I have given two of my candles from my 4 pack away, one to a dear friend and one to my mother, and they're both really intrigued by the idea- and of course in love with the scents!! My favorite is the Fresh Fig, but my mom is obsessed with her Mysteria candle.

I wanted to write to you to thank you for this candle and this IDEA. At first I didn't take it overly seriously, I thought I'd give the candles as gifts and be done with it, but I decided to keep a candle for me, and I followed the "instructions" the first day. I sat quietly for 5 minutes, before I had to leave for work, and just relaxed. The rest of the day seemed... softer somehow. I was really relaxed and I felt like it was easier to be nice to people, if that makes any sense. I sat with the candle for the rest of the week, and the calmness only increased. I actually had a coworker ask me if I had received a raise or something because I seemed happy-not smug exactly, just kind of "secretly happy".

I hope this idea takes off, someone should email Oprah and tell her about this, it seems right up her alley!

Carolyn, Savannah, GA

I'm a mother of three glorious children, wife of a wonderful man, and should not, on paper, have a complaint in this world! We're all healthy, the bills are paid, and I have a great group of friends, but for the past couple of years, my restlessness has morphed into some kind of general apathy.  I joined, under great pressure from my husband, the local senior citizen's center's Art Alliance, and suddenly my world has opened up! My 45 minutes a week at the pottery wheel next to women nearly twice my age has totally changed my outlook. The STORIES these ladies have!  I was browsing the internet, and when I typed in "inspirational stories", looking for something to share with my new senior friends, I found your site. I bought three candles, one for each of my favorite ladies, and it was like I had presented them with diamonds and jewels, they were so overjoyed. What a nice idea, and a great product. Thanks so much for putting it out there to share with the world.  Carmen, Sylvia, and Marie, the recipients of the candles, have asked me to thank you as well, and wish you all the best with your own life, Marsha!

Barbara from Monroe, WA

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. I was just 40 years old. I had one breast removed and 8 weeks of chemo. I was not sure which would kill me first the cancer or the treatments. I am so excited so say that I am on my way to a full recovery wit the help of the Zumba class that has just started at our local YMCA I have been going for 2 months now and feel better than I have felt in 2 years. It has been a godsend to me and has saved me from going down that self pitty road. Hang in there with your recovery you will get there too. There is a light at the end of the tunnel even if it's just a flicker now. I am a survivor!

Your Stories- Maria from Ponte Vedra, FL

My mother's sudden death was very difficult, and then to have the two surgeries, not being able to eat or exercise, losing the teaching job I loved and being in miserable pain and I was in pretty bad shape. Lucky for me my friend/neighbor who is also a nurse recognized I was having issues and started checking in on me regularly and finally had to tell me it was time to go get some help, which I did. In addition to the help of some wonderful doctors and friends, I found other ways to find peace. I would turn off all the lights and fire up the candles and sit there and meditate and just kept telling myself that I could get though this and any other positive thoughts that I could come up with. Finally, I am feeling so much better.

When I read about your candle idea I thought it was great! The whole time I was feeling bad I thought there must be other people like me that don't have anyone to help them and if I got better I was going to make sure I helped a friend to repay my friend for all her concern. I think you are the best for turning a bad experience into something so positive! You have really hit the nail on the head with this one! Anyhing I can volunteer to help you with to make this a success please let me know!

My very dear friend that helped me has had a pancreas transplant and has never been completely well since the surgery and she is never quite sure how her health will turn out . I would love to pass one of these candles onto her.

Our First "Share Your Story" Post

Thanks so much to Susan from Tallahassee, Florida for sending us her story!

I love my Promise Candles! What a wonderful thing you have created! I gave one as a gift and I know the special person who received it will love it just as much as I love mine. I look forward to the time I have to sit and reflect on my day and all the beautiful things in this world. The warm glow of the candle seems to block out anything that doesn't bring happy thoughts. It's kind of like....... magic! Thanks for sharing this with the world! Susan

The Candles Are Here!!

WOW the scents! We thought long and hard about the scents of the candles. Should we have just ONE- a signature scent? If so, what? Everyone had a different opinion, and when it came down to it, we decided it would be best to offer something for everyone. Right now I'm burning the Fig scent, and it's unbelievable. My office manager is torn between Mysteria and Lime Basil as her favorite, and our web guru favors the French Vanilla. I think we made some great choices, and we're so excited.

People are already starting to respond to The Promise Candle, we've received emails from those who have "heard through the grapevine" about the candle, and they're already sharing their stories with us- it's so magical.  We can't wait to get this blog up and running on the website so we can post other people's stories and really start spreading the love!

The Candles Are On The Way!

Today the candles come in- I am SO excited. It's amazing how much support I've received in the short time since I came up with this idea until now. Everyone wants a candle, and more importantly they understand my need to make people happy. It's such a great feeling. When you come up with an idea about which you are SO incredibly passionate, you're going to go for it, no matter what, but it ALWAYS helps when people GET it and support you!

Within the next two weeks we want to have candles out there in the world! We'll be attaching labels, packing boxes, and running our own little manufacturing plant here, and I don't think I've been so excited about ANYTHING in years.

:) Marsha
